Reporting Studio gives program administrators self-service access to dashboards, Explores, and custom Looks. When you need help building or refining a report, Benevity's Client Technical Services (CTS) Reporting team can assist. This article explains when to use self-service resources first, what CTS Reporting can build for you, and what details to include so your team receives accurate guidance without extra back-and-forth.
Using self-service resources first
Many reporting questions can be answered without opening a ticket. Before you contact CTS Reporting, try the following:
- Review Using Reporting Studio effectively for standard dashboards, filters, boards, and scheduling. With over 20 standard dashboards available, there is a good chance the data you need is already accessible. Employee Engagement standard dashboards has the full list.
- Check whether updating filters on an existing Look or dashboard (such as a date range or cause filter) gets you what you need. This is faster than a new build and keeps your folder from filling up with near-duplicate reports. Note that standard dashboards cannot be modified.
- Open the Support resources links inside Reporting Studio (from your program landing page) for task-based articles such as Navigating the Reporting Studio and Using Explores.
- Confirm whether your question relates to Reporting Studio or legacy Benevity Reporting. They are separate tools. If you need help with Benevity Reporting, use Requesting support for Benevity Reporting instead.
Understanding CTS Reporting support options
If a standard dashboard or a filter update on an existing report won't get you where you need to be, CTS Reporting can build something custom. There are two options, each with different turnaround times:
- Look: A single report, in the form of a table or one visualization. Turnaround is 3–5 business days.
- Dashboard: A collection of visualizations built around a specific goal or program. Because it requires scoping before work can begin, turnaround is over a week.
The intake questions in the next section help CTS Reporting determine which option fits your needs and build it accurately the first time.
Including the right information in your request
Include answers to the following questions so CTS Reporting can respond efficiently.
About the report
- What type of report are you looking for help with? (Donations, Volunteer, Rewards, or Participation. Using Explores describes what each Explore contains.)
- What is the goal of your report? (for example, “I want to see all users who donated to a specific nonprofit” or “I want to see all users who volunteered year to date”)
- Are there specific questions you are trying to answer with this report? (for example, “How many unique donors did we have for our Giving Tuesday campaign, and what was the total donation volume compared to corporate match volume?”)
- How will this report be used? (for example, monthly leadership review, annual impact story, or audit support)
- What date range should the report cover? (provide specific dates. Reporting Studio reports in UTC, so include your time zone if exact cutoffs matter)
- What currency should the report use? (for example, USD, CAD, GBP. This helps CTS Reporting configure any dollar-value fields correctly)
Top tip: If your report needs to span more than one program (for example, users who donated or volunteered during a specific campaign), donation and volunteering data live in separate Explores. Merging Explores in Reporting Studio explains what is possible.
About the build
- Are there any fields or measures you want included? (for example, user email, corporate match amount, upcoming donations, nonprofit name, volunteer submission time, reward balance, participation rate)
- Are there specific giving opportunities, volunteer opportunities, nonprofits, campaigns, or rewards to capture? (include a link or exact names when possible)
- Is there an existing Look or dashboard you want to use as a starting point? (provide the saved name or a link from Reporting Studio)
- In your My Folder, where should the report be saved? (name a specific subfolder, or use the default Benevity Created folder)
- Any other details that could help CTS Reporting build a report that meets your needs? (for example, screenshots or attachments)
Top tip: If your report needs to be shared with multiple people, you can either share it through a board or schedule it to be delivered by email.
Submitting a Reporting Studio support request
When self-service resources do not answer your question, or you need CTS Reporting to help design or validate a custom report, submit a request through B-Hive:
- Open Support.
- Complete the support form and describe your Reporting Studio question or goal.
- Copy the intake questions above into the request description and answer each one.
- Attach screenshots, exports, or links to saved Looks or dashboards when they help explain the issue.
- Submit the request. You can track its status from your My activities page on B-Hive.
The CTS Reporting team aims to help you get the data you need and to give your team the tools and knowledge to build reports in Reporting Studio independently.
