This article describes the default behaviour of a highly configurable system. Your granting program may appear or behave differently depending on user permissions and custom configurations. If you do not appear to have access to everything you need, use the Help > Request Help link to request additional permissions.
Automatically linking organizations to proposals
Proposals are automatically linked to organization profiles when there are one of the following question types in the application:
- A Nonprofit Search allows the submitter to locate their organization from a database of nonprofits.
- A Tax ID/EIN number can be entered by the submitter.
When a new proposal is submitted, the platform checks if there is an existing organization profile with the same details and links to the organization. If there isn't, the platform creates a new organization using information in the proposal.
If the linked organization is incorrect, you can change the organization to an existing profile or create a new one to change it to.
When a proposal is linked to an organization, it is added to the organization's History.
Parent/child hierarchy
If there are multiple parent/child organizations with the same Tax ID, the parent organization profile is linked to the proposal. If this is incorrect, select the link on the organization name to go to the parent profile where you can review child organizations and confirm which organization it should be changed to.
Manually linking organizations to proposals
If information is not provided to automatically find an organization, you can manually link an existing profile from the Organization tab within a proposal.
Select Organization and search for a profile by Tax ID or Organization Name. Select the Organization and Save to link it to the proposal. You can also Create New Organization if it does not exist.
Unlinking organizations from proposals
If an organization is linked to a proposal, you can unlink it from the Organization tab by selecting Actions > Unlink Organization.
This action means that there is no organization record for the submitter of the proposal. If you need to unlink an organization, make sure that a new one is chosen soon!
