Benevity Grants Advanced provides dynamic multilingual support in the Applicant Portal through the integration of Weglot. This helps increase the global reach and accessibility of your grant programs by allowing applicants to instantly view and interact with portal content in their preferred language.
By reducing language barriers, you promote greater inclusivity and help more applicants understand and submit proposals effectively, regardless of their native language. This helps administrators optimize their global program outreach and application management.
For access, submit a request for support.
Translating the applicant portal
Once Weglot is activated for your site, a language dropdown menu appears in the top-right corner of all applicant portal pages. This allows applicants to translate page content in real time into their preferred language.
To translate the page:
- Locate the language dropdown in the bottom right corner of the Applicant Portal.
- Select their preferred language from the list of available options.
- View the translated version of the page automatically, with no page reload needed.
Note: Only left-to-right languages are supported.
Managing available languages and manual translations
Client administrators with appropriate permissions can manage which languages are available to applicants and manually override any translation through the Weglot dashboard.
Accessing the Weglot dashboard
Administrators with the Translations.Manage permission can access the Weglot dashboard by selecting Configuration > Manage Translations from the top navigation menu on the Grants management home page.
If you do not see the Translation Dashboard or do not have a Weglot account to access the dashboard, request access by selecting Help > Request Help in the Client Portal or contact Benevity Support.
Adding a new available language
To add a language to the applicant portal:
- Open the Weglot dashboard from the Translation Dashboard link.
- Select the desired project.
- Navigate to Translations from the right navigation menu and select Languages.
- Select Add Language to include a new supported language.
- Select a language from the dropdown and select Add Language
Removing an existing language
To remove a language from the Applicant Portal:
- Open the Weglot Dashboard from the Translation Dashboard link.
- Select the desired project.
- Navigate to Translations from the right navigation menu and select Languages.
- Select the trash can icon next to the language you want to remove.
- Confirm deletion by selecting Delete from the confirmation prompt
When a supported language is removed, any translated content in that language reverts to the portal’s default language. For example, if English is the default and an applicant previously viewed the portal in French, they may still see French if their browser has stored that preference in cookies. Once the language is no longer supported, the next time the applicant accesses the portal, content displays in the default language.
Manually overriding translations
To review or adjust existing translations:
- Within the desired project in the Weglot dashboard, navigate to Translations from the right navigation menu and select Languages..
- Choose a specific language from the list.
- Select the progress bar in the Manually Translated Words column.
- Review the auto-generated translations and edit any entry as needed by selecting the translated text.
- Select the checkmark to confirm changes.
- All manual adjustments are tracked for future reference. You will only be able to see what has been changed, not who made the changes or what the text was before.
