Creating a peer match

Peer matching empowers your people to create a giving opportunity and add a match, join a matching pool with their coworkers or donate to receive a match! It's a simple way for everyone to get involved and make an impact, and they'll love the feeling they get from connecting and taking action as a team.

Permissions

Anyone with permission to create a giving opportunity can create a peer match, provided peer matching is enabled for your program.  If only admins can create giving opportunities in your program, only they can create a peer match, but once they create the original giving opportunity with a peer match, anyone can add to the peer match pool.  If everyone can create a giving opportunity, everyone can create a peer match.

Creating a peer match opportunity

  1. Go to Make a Donation > Create a Giving Opportunity and fill in the details of your giving opportunity.
  2. Under the Peer Matching section, select Turn on Peer Matching for this Giving Opportunity.

  3. Enter the maximum donation amount that you would like to match. This amount will display in the Peer Match pool on the giving opportunity.
  4. Select Submit.

Now, when people open the giving opportunity, they'll see that a peer match pool has been created, and that they can add a match of their own to the pool.

Note: If the giving opportunity has a donation goal, it isn’t possible to also add a peer match, so if the peer match section doesn't appear when creating your giving opportunity, make sure you haven't set a donation goal.
