You can edit matching offers created for your program. To edit a matching offer:
- Go to Manage > Finance > Matching Offers.
- Locate the matching offer, and select the Actions three-dot menu > Edit.
If a matching offer has not started, it is in Pending status and you can edit all fields apart from funding rules. After the start date, it is Active and only certain fields can be updated. This guide outlines the editable fields and considerations for updating an Active matching offer.
Permissions
Users with the budget manager user role can edit Matching Offers.
Editing an active matching offer
Once the offer has started, you can edit the following components. If you want to update uneditable fields, such as the Match Rate, stop the offer and create a new one.
End Time and Timezone
Extend or reduce the period the offer is active.
Offer Limits
Eligible donors will receive a match only if the offer or budget limit hasn’t been reached. If they donate after the limit is met, they won’t get a match. To allow more donations to qualify, increase the limit as needed.
If you raise the match limit, past donations made while it was reached won’t be matched. To avoid this, increase the limit when you receive threshold notifications.
Depending on the funding rule, you can adjust the match offer or budget limits while an offer is active.
- Standalone: adjust the Match Offer Limit and Per User Match Limit on the matching offer.
- Existing budgets: adjust the budget limits in the Budgets module.
- Existing budgets with Limits: adjust the Match Offer Limit on the matching offer.
Nonprofits
Use the Add cause search bar to find and add a new nonprofit. Donations to the nonprofit are only matched if made after the nonprofit is added to the offer.
To remove a nonprofit, select the Remove option next to the nonprofit's name.
Stopping a matching offer
Matching offers that have not started can be deleted. Locate the offer in the Matching Offers table, select the three-dot icon and then Delete.
Active or expired matching offers cannot be deleted. You can stop a matching offer by changing the End Date to the current date and setting the End Time to the current time. This effectively stops the matching offer.
Matching offer history
Changes to matching offer configurations are tracked in Matching Offer History. The audit log captures changes in real-time whenever updates are made to offer settings, recording who made the change, what was changed, and when it occurred. Every time the Save option is used to confirm changes, an entry is recorded in the log.
Accessible at the bottom of the matching offer page, the audit log is closed by default. Select Show to access the history.
Benevity users
Changes were actioned by Benevity support if the Updated by column displays Benevity.
Updating matching offers with budget configuration changes
If you update your platform budget configuration, consider reviewing and updating your active matching offers to ensure they reflect the new budget settings. You’ll need to stop all active offers that are funded by your budgets and create new versions that reference the new settings. This helps maintain consistency and avoid any discrepancies in funding.
