Reporting on CRA volunteering data in Reporting Studio

CRA volunteering data is available in Reporting Studio, giving your team a way to view, filter, and export CRA compliance data from employee volunteering activities. Reporting covers both external time submissions and opportunity-based submissions, and data can be exported in a format suitable for regulatory audits.

Accessing CRA volunteering data

CRA data is available through the CRA Explore in Reporting Studio. The Explore is only available to users who have been provisioned with CRA access by Benevity. To request access, contact support.

To get started quickly, use the built-in Optimize Eligible Volunteer Time for CRA Export QuickStart, which pre-filters data by the current year and activity type, sorted by hours. This gives you a ready-to-use view for audit purposes.

Understanding the available data

The CRA Explore provides data from two types of volunteering submissions:

  • External time submissions: volunteer hours logged directly by employees outside of a specific volunteer opportunity
  • Opportunity-based submissions: volunteer hours logged against a volunteer opportunity created in the platform

Key fields available in the Explore include:

  • CRA: CRA custom entry fields (configured per company), CRA category, CRA eligible hours, CRA qualification statement, LMI eligibility, reviewer comments, reviewer decision, county code, and state code
  • Volunteer Submissions: date of service, activity type, hours, submission status, and opportunity name
  • User: employee name, last name, and preferred name
  • Causes: cause name and cause address details
  • Volunteer Opportunities, Volunteer Shifts, Volunteer Sign-ups, Tags, and Cause Projects

Additional fields are available within each group. Use the Find a Field search in the Explore to browse the full list.
