October 2020: Upcoming Events

Each year, more than 5,000 executives, Employee Resource Group (ERG) leaders and members, HR, Diversity & Inclusion professionals and experts convene at the Out & Equal Workplace Summit – the largest LGBTQ focused conference in the world. Summit has grown to become the preferred place to network, share strategies and best practices that help create workplaces which are inclusive of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions – workplaces where everyone belongs, and where LGBTQ employees can be out and thrive. Time and time again, we hear (and have experienced personally) that Summit is life-changing and transformative – a pivotal boost to professionals’ personal and professional lives.

As technology evolves it is being harnessed to give greater access to volunteer involvement and enhance how volunteers carry out their roles. Going to the computer or phone to find out how to connect to volunteering opportunities is the norm, virtual volunteering is a growing trend. Social media creates an instant global sharing of who volunteers are and what they are doing. New technologies such as artificial intelligence will bring further change and challenge as to how these new digital opportunities can also support and develop volunteering.

Over the past 12 months, several challenges and opportunities have shaped the way we approach Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Global forces like the climate strike, the Blackrock statement, COVID-19 and the economic crisis have hit the world in waves. These external factors along with the drive to integrate CSR into HR, Sales, Client Services and other essential internal operational units are redefining the field. CSR professionals are working hard to embrace change and adjust their priorities and plans to fit the new normal.

The 2020 B:CIVIC Summit is designed to support CSR professionals as they (re)define CSR for the next decade. Together, we will explore best practices, find inspiration from our peers, and hear from experts in the field who can guide us as we continue to focus on the business of making an impact in our communities.

The European SDG Summit 2020 is organised in the framework of the European Pact for Sustainable Industry: a pan-European movement to invigorate leadership and engagement at local and international level towards a Sustainable Europe 2030. At the Summit, CSR Europe will inaugurate the European Pact for a Sustainable Industry during a High-Level Meeting between representatives of the European Commission, CEOs and industry federation leaders. The meeting will be live-streamed.

Today’s business leaders see their organizations and their employees as together having a stake in the wellbeing of their communities. The focus is changing from what corporations can do for you to what they can do with you. Corporate volunteering plays a big part in this shared sense of social purpose that gives the win-win-win effect, good for business, good for employees and good for wider society.
