Spark Report: Participation

Use the Spark Participation Report to quickly answer questions about how people are participating in your program, right in the platform.

How to use this report

This report summarizes participation and accepted terms of use rate by timeframe and fields provided in your demographic data. For example: if a senior leader asks for volunteering participation data for a team based in Canada during a certain time period, you can add those filters, view the trend lines, and export the data within minutes.

  • View program participation rate across the company

  • See how program participation has trended over time

  • Compare participation rates between different groups (teams, locations, or other custom groupings)

  • Identify groups who are not yet participating

  • Export participation data for further visualization

Accessing the report

Users with the Reports Manager role can access this report. Simply sign into Spark and navigate to Manage > Reports > Participation.

When data is updated

This report is updated in real-time.

Report views and filters

  • Participation type: Select overall, donation, volunteering, missions or terms of use.
  • Group type: Select time (month, quarter or year), or any field provided in your demographic data.
  • Start date / end date: filter page visits over a specific time period
  • User Type: select the denominator for participation and accepted terms of use rates.
    • All eligible users (recommended)
      • If a an employee was eligible for the program in April, but is no longer at the company their participation (or non-participation) will be captured with eligible users
    • All active users
      • If a an employee was eligible for the program in April, but is no longer at the company their participation (or non-participation) will not be captured.

Exporting the data

Once you have selected and applied filters, click Export to view your data in PDF, XLSX or CSV for further visualization.Export_Participation_Report.png

Glossary terms

  • Overall Participation: users who have donated, tracked volunteer time, or completed a missions activity (if enabled) displayed as a percentage of eligible or active users.
  • Volunteer Participation: users who tracked volunteer time displayed as a percentage of eligible or active users.
  • Accepted terms of use: users who have logged into Spark at least once displayed as a percentage of eligible or active users.
  • Eligible user: a person who had access to Spark during the period you are reporting on. Eligible users includes users who have since left your company, but had access to your program at the time.
    • Note: Eligible users is the is the recommended user type for viewing participation data. 
  • Active user:a person who currently has access to Spark and also had access to Spark during the period you are reporting on. Active users does not include any users who have since left the company.
    • Note: Active users is not the standard denominator for participation and is not recommended.
  • UTC: Universal Time Coordinated. This is the standard time zone of all Spark reports.
  • Spark Localized Experience: Each user in Spark is mapped to a Localized Experience.
    A user's localized experience dictates the currency of their transaction, the budget that their transactions are associated with, the causes they can donate to and the tax-effectiveness of their donations.
